Hey, friend! I cannot believe that it has been an official month since I started my blog! I hope that that this post serves to encourage others who are at the beginning of their blogging journey as I am. Hopefully, this information can serve you regardless of the journey that you are on- every one has to start somewhere!

Success I've Had This Month
If you’re looking specifically for my income report, I will report on that in a moment. For now, I want to start with what I have accomplished this month for myself, and where I plan to go from here.
1. First Blog Post Published- February 9th, 2021
Even though I signed up with WordPress and Siteground (which I highly recommend if you’re considering starting your own blog!) on January 1st, I didn’t “launch” my first blog post until February 9th, 2021. In between, I had been designing my blog, and working on several holiday specific blog posts (Black History Month, Valentines Day, Easter, etc.).
I considered waiting to launch my blog until I had 10 or so solid blog posts up. Some professional bloggers recommend that you do this, and others don’t.
I personally chose to not wait and I am glad that I made the decision that I did. Eventually, more posts came trickling in, and now, I have around 8 that are done and published with around 3-5 Pinterest pins each!
2. First Comment- February 28th, 2021
I was so very excited that I got my first comment on this blog post about saving money on Easter. I thought I would have had to have been much further along in my blogging journey for anyone to pay attention to what I had to say.
Thankfully, I am a part of an awesome Facebook group that has been amazing for me to share my journey with. They really have been a blessing.
3. First subscriber- March 8th, 2021
I was actually pretty shocked that I already had one subscriber when I opened my Convertkit app on March 9th! I was so excited and so nervous because I didn’t expect this to happen so quickly, AND I hadn’t even figured out how to add my “freebie” to my first email to send to my subscribers. Oops.
As I said, I do not claim to be an expert in this, and I am trying to give myself grace for when things like this do happen. Because when we are new, they will.
I hope that when you try new things, you are also gracious with yourself when you run into unexpected surprises that you aren’t prepared for.
4. My Income Report
Now for the part that most people came here to see. My income report. Are you ready to hear what my earnings were?
Yep. You read that right. I earned zero dollars and zero cents from my blog this first month.
And you know what? I’m okay with that.
My Take Away
You probably didn’t notice that I didn’t say that I earned nothing from my blog this month. Because that wouldn’t be true at all.
First, I have earned the ability to say that I did not give up on a task when things got hard. Second, I have learned several entirely new skillsets- like how to make my own pins for Pinterest, how to somewhat navigate tailwind, and I’m (still) learning with Convertkit- all while being a working mother of two young kiddos!
Third, I have written and published 8 blog posts, with several other drafts still in the making! Finally, I have also gained at least 10 new followers on Pinterest, and have made some new blogging friends.
As it turns out, I have worked hard this last month at something that I have never done before. And I will continue to learn and grow in the coming months and years that I continue this blog. Because, friend, I plan on building an Empire- and Rome wasn’t built in a day. Or a month, for that matter. 🙂
Friend, I am hoping that this post is encouraging to you in whatever new beginnings you are in. Whether it’s a new business venture like a blog, paying off debt, starting a new habit or building new relationships, please remember when setting goals to be patient with yourself and others in your journey. We are all in this together.
Thank you so very much for being with me today. As always, it is so very good to be with you. Until we meet again, friend.
